Geothermal Heating and Cooling in Schererville, IN

When you are selecting a new heating and cooling system, you could go with the conventional options, like a gas furnace and central air conditioner. You might choose a heat pump over a standard air conditioning system, which can move heat in two directions for high-efficiency heating and air conditioning. But today, there are even more ways to take advantage of renewable energy options that help you to save money and protect the earth’s natural resources, like geothermal heating and cooling.

A geothermal heating and cooling system can help you to save a lot of money over the years. These long-lasting, high-efficiency systems are relatively low maintenance, and they are ideal for anyone with a large enough property for installation. Want to learn more? Just give us a call! Earl's Heating & Air Conditioning provides geothermal installation and service in Schererville, IN and the surrounding areas. We’ve been proudly serving Northwest Indiana since 1975.

What’s Involved with Geothermal Installation?

Geothermal systems are a bit complicated to understand if you don’t have much experience in HVAC, but they can be compared to a central AC or heat pump. A geothermal system is a heat pump, which means it uses a chemical to move heat from one place to another. Standard air–source heat pumps remove heat from the air in a home to bring it outdoors so that the home can cool down in the summer. In the winter, the heat pump moves heat from the air outside to the indoors, to provide whole–home heating.

The problem with air–source heat pumps is that the temperature of the outside air fluctuates so much. Extreme temperatures test the system’s performance in the winter, and it may struggle as it gets colder outside. When you dig deep enough into the earth, however, the temperature remains relatively stable, and a geothermal installation takes advantage of this.

When you schedule geothermal installation, technicians will dig a large trench in your property in order to install an underground loop system that can absorb heat from the ground, using a chemical blend to transport this heat to the inside portion of your system. This process reverses in the summer, when refrigerant absorbs heat from the air in your home and moves it back to the earth to provide cooling. We install top quality brands including Water Furnace, so call for an estimate today.

Our Geothermal Systems and Services

We provide geothermal system installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance services. With an installation, our experts will first help to assess your home in order to see that geothermal installation is really the best option for your home. They’ll work carefully to see that the outdoor installation is completed properly and in a timely manner, and that the inside components are working efficiently as well.

Geothermal heating and cooling systems save a lot of money and last for many, many years, which is what makes them such a popular choice. With regular maintenance, you shouldn’t have to worry about geothermal repairs very often, but when you do notice issues, we will help to solve the problem and we also offer a one–year guarantee on repairs. And in a number of years, when you do need a system replacement, we’ll be there for you.
